How to Program DK series Access Control Keypads?

The following is a useful tool for first time programmers or anyone that wants to use it as a cheat sheet for ILUS Electronics DK series Access Control keypads.

For detailed programming information refer to the keypad Manual

1. Master Code

a. All DK series keypads are shipped with a factory default master code – 0000. It is strongly recommended that you change the master code only after you gain complete familiarity with the keypad programming process. Leaving the Master code change for last is a good practice.

b. Do not forget to write down the Master Code and User Code you program. Keep it as a spread sheet in your PC and a hard copy list stapled to the keypad user manual.

c. If you forget the Master Code or are not sure what code you have entered follow the DAP procedure as described in the keypad manual.

d. The DAP (DIRECT ACCESS TO PROGRAMMING MODE CODE) procedure will set the access control keypad into programming mode (Amber LED ON) but will erase the last programmed Master code. While in programming mode enter a new Master Code following the instructions in the User Manual.

2. LED indication Explanation

a. RED / GREEN (Right) - It lights up Green when User Code is entered for Output 1 activation; and Red for Output 2 activation.

b. AMBER (Centre)- flashes in Standby.(waiting for user code) and indicates system status in simultaneously with the beeping tones.

c. The standby flashing can be set to OFF in programming. See Location 73 for the details.

d. RED (Left) - Lights up when one of the outputs is inhibited and for RFID keypads in reader mode

e. LED and Beep indication Summary Table - The buzzer and the amber LED indicator give following tones and signals respectively for system status:

3.     Q&A

a.     Q: I am the Administrator. Why when I key in my Master Code it prompts 5 short beeps simultaneously with 5 fast flashes of the Amber LED

A: The 5 beeps and 5 flashes indicate that the Master code entered does not match the code saved in the keypad memory. Try to enter again and if the error code indication repeats your code is incorrect. Follow the DAP (DIRECT ACCESS TO PROGRAMMING MODE CODE) procedure as described in the manual for you access control keypad. While in programming mode you must enter a new Master Code. Please confirm that the new Master code is correct by entering it into the keypad.

b.     Q: I tried to key in my user code but the door does not unlock and it prompts 5 short beeps simultaneously with 5 fast flashes of the Amber LED. Please explain why and what the indication mean.

A: You must have keyed in an incorrect User Code. The 5 beeps and 5 flashes indicate that the User Code entered does not match the code previously programmed into the keypad. Try to enter the code again and if the error code indication repeats your code must be incorrect. Ask the Administrator to program your existing user code or a new code. The Administrator will set the keypad into programming mode following the instruction in the manual and program your new User Code.
